why would anybody want to built something that has the same limitations of a human.
making a robot that walks requires so much effort, balancing the body weight on ankles is something biological bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments do awesomely compared to steel and plastics.
flying however, is a whole different thing altogether.
drones are the future of man.
the fly for one thing, they can access places man cant,
they're small, they're cheap, and having 4-8 rotors/blades make them much easier to make compared to legs. almost anyone can fly them and the uses are unlimited.
its so light, its much cheaper to get something (i.e camera, supplies, sensors) up in the sky compared to a helicopter that might be 2000 bucks per hour.. fuel and pilot included.
they can bring lidar, infrared, HD cameras... heck even weapons up into the air.
aerial combat .. against loggers, poachers and wildfires.
i remember when watching the movie "tree idiots" and there was a dude in MIT who committed suicide for his drone project being turned down. wow... india was doing the in thing even before it was cool.
